On the morning of our northern Thailand trek, we were out of bed early and keen to get packed and grab some breakfast. After a 7/11 toastie and a mad rush to get ready, we were downstairs in Deejai backpackers by 9am ready for collection. We had booked the 2d/1n trek through an online company called Travel hub Chiang Mai, which at first I was worried might be a scam; their prices were very cheap at £20 per person for the trip and you had to pay online. We took our chances and booked it, and sure enough at 9.30am a driver arrived to collect us in a songataew. We drove for about 40 minutes until we reached a food market and then started the ascent into the Doi Inthanon national park.
